really fun and pleasant to everybody.
The competition will be divided into five categories.
Your kid can enter one or all the categories:
1. Floreios. It is the individual competition where the
child will show his/her skills by themselves in the roda for
1 minute. The judges will judge the degree of difficulty of
the movements, how well they were performed, if they were
performed according to the rhythm of the music.
2. Duplas. The child will choose a friend to perform
with them and will show a 1 minute and 30 seconds of "jogo"
(game) of Capoeira. The game should be cooperative and the
judge will grade by how well they interact with each other,
the difficulty of the movements and how well they were performed.
3. Instruments. The child should choose a instrument
to use for one minute. They can choose from any of the Capoeira
instruments we have: berimbau, pandeiro, agogo, reco-reco
or atabaque. The judges will look skill and rhythm and if
they can do variations with the instrument chosen
4. Capoeira Game. In this category, the child will
be match up with another student with relative age, size and
skills. The match up can not be questioned by the parents
or the child will be automatically disqualified. In this part
of the competition, the students are allowed to make light
contact and takedowns. If the child hits another in the head,
he/she will receive a warning than the second time will be
a disqualification even if it was an accident both times.
The judges are looking for control, skill and finesse rather
than brute force. If the child gets hit in the head and bleeds,
the kid who kicked will be disqualified, no warning required.
No matter what competition the judges will be
always looking for:
*Style
*Ginga
*Straight kicks
*Height of the kicks
*Knowledge
Remember that the more categories they enter,
the more chance they will have to get a prize.
